Hello all,

Summertime is here, and the gigs are starting to pile up!

Firstly, huge thanks to all who showed up and enjoyed us at this years Dublin Docklands Festival, we had a ball, played 4 gigs on the acoustic stage in glorious, fantastic weather, the mood up there was amazing and as for the food, well, all I can say is those garlic prawns were what kept us all going all weekend! Here's to next year!

We're in the process of putting the finishing touches to our new dvd - it's taken us soooo long to finally get here, so massive thanks to Lofty & Bertie, without whom this wouldn't have been possible. It'll be on the site as soon as possible.

We'll also have a CD out soon enough, it's a live CD, so rough and ready, but you'll get the idea of what we're all about. Will be available to buy at gigs, or you can send us an aul email and we'll post one out to you.

Plans for the Spraoi festival are afoot, or should I say 'ashore', looks like it's gonna be a deadly weekend (as always) so mark it in your diaries people, it's gonna rock!

Big thanks to Waterford Arts Office, who saw fit to sub us a few quid - much appreciated!

And best o luck to Simon, our sexy lil snare drummer, who's off to work in a bar in Alicante for 2 months - never worked an honest day in his life, so we're looking forward to hearing his tales of workin for da man!

Dats it for now, see y'all in Limerick on July 4th, and elsewhere around the country in August/September.

Peace out y'all

Just found this on the website of the TrotuArt festival we played last year...and are returning to this year! I know it's blowing our own trumpet, but hey, if we can't, who can?!?!

TrotuArt Website

It all began in accordance with a famous Hitchcock rule, a heavy accent first and then the tension was only increasing. The vice-president of Lodz Mr Marek Michalik solemnly cut
the ribbon and then the great festival parade set off down Piotrkowska Street. In the company of two dragons of ours, stilt walkers, clowns and the orchestra, crowds of people were becoming the audience. Yet, the real hit of the festival was the Irish band of drum masters-Torann. They arrived, drummed and enchanted the Lodz audience! On the
Manufaktura market Niunia the lovely dragoness received the tributes of admirers. No wonder that the dragons from Cracow courted her with such an enthusiasm! The market was bursting at the seams under pressure of four dragons and countless small and big dragons' lovers.
We received plenty of thanks from the people of our city grateful for the opportunity they had- to experience so many high, live, wonderful artistic impressions. These warm words are to us the greatest joy and encouragement to start working on the next year Festival's edition.
Welcome!

        Hi everybody!

Hope you are all well after two bank holidays in a row! We were busy for the first one, 2 great gigs in Dublin as part of he Patricks Festival, then into the various fun buses and back to Waterford for a gig at Traffik that night, which I gotta say rocked, one of our best gigs ever. Crowd were amazing, filled the floor immediately and kept it full all night - if you were there, thanks a mil, you were fantastic!

Quiet now, we're doing a charity gig in Electric Avenue on Friday 4th April, which should be fun, us, a few other bands and I think at last count, 25 dj's too, so there should be something for everyone there.

And as you may have noticed from our future gig listings, we're going BACK TO LODZ!!!! We're delighted, can't wait for it, and extremely happy to be asked back for a 2nd year. So we'll see all our Polish fans in September to rock the streets of Lodz again!

Currently trying to swing a few gigs at certain festivals later on this year, so fingers crossed, hopefully someone will take the chance and allow us to show the world what a drumming group is all about!

Till next time...
Hello all, how's it all going out there in the real world? Delighted to say we've finally got the website figured out, so we can post things up more regularly without having to bother our poor site designer all the time! We'll be putting up more pics of last years adventures and some movies 'n' stuff too. If you're really stuck and want to rekindle those old memories of our half naked antics, just search on youtube for Torann, and you'll be satisified!
Delighted to announce the arrival on the planet of the first lil Torann baby. He's already shaping up to be a possible lil drummer boy, but I think his da would prefer him to be a prop on an international rugby team! Big up to Cillian from all the band, we're that awful racket that disturbed you in your Mothers belly last summer!
If you're floating around the metropolis of Dublin during the Patricks Festival in March, come along to Merrion Square on the 16th (Sunday, you're all off, it's a bank holiday weekend, you've no excuse!) where we're playing with other international groups as part of the Big Day Out. Hopefully it won't be as cold or snowy as last year, so maybe, just maybe, you might see some topless action! Then it's into the fun bus and back to Waterford for a gig at Traffik in the Forum later that night - definately some topless action there, I reckon! And then some of us get to participate in the parade the next day - we'll say no more of that tho!
We've also signed up to a site called Band For The Day (http://www.bandfortheday.com/) where you can view us, play our song and vote for us to be the sites 'band for the day'. There's a live recording of one of our tracks on it, apologies for the dodgy quality, but you never know, we might one day be their 'band for the day'.
Thats it for the mo, keep an eye on the site for new pics and stuff, and we'll have more news of gigs coming up, wonderous events happening and general social commentary.

Greetings to one and all, after a long gap in news and updates! Hope you like our new, funky site, thank you Mr. ROC for your wonderful expertise and new Mac! So what have we been up to since we last spoke? So much has happened, both good and bad, I've got to bullet point it, otherwise I'll forget things.

We have been signed onto the books of a company in London called Continental Drifts. This is a pretty big deal for us, as these guys have a hand in programming a lot of big music festivals and street festivals around the UK, Europe, America and beyond! Since we're not the kind of band that could get 'signed to a label', this is our equivalent. As you can imagine, we're delighted and excited about this, hopefully it'll mean a lot more traveling to distant lands to do what we do.

We've also entered ourselves into a competition to play at this years Glastonbury. Although we're amongst thousands of bands who have entered, you never know...!

Finally, and this time its true, we're actually getting down to some recording. People have been asking us for years and we've been threatening to do this for years too, but at the moment, we're organising a venue and a date. We expect it done by mid-March.

We've recently been played on our local radio station, WLR, by the one and only Roddy Cleere. We were very surprised at this, but happy too! Hopefully this means our latest recordings might get some airplay too.

We've got a new member too, Niall Hogan, some may know him as the drummer with the Deaf Animal Orchestra but we know him as new-Niall. Niall joined us in November, to replace Ken, who left in September to work in the sunnier climes of India.

That brings me onto a sad piece of news. Ken, a member since we started back in 2002, left this world on January 19th 2007, after an illness that started on Christmas day 2006. Ken was a huge part of Torann, when things were getting tedious for us, he would always bring his charm and enthusiasm into play and re-energise us. We had always felt we were missing something in our performances, and one day, Ken showed us all what it was. Since then, we've gone from strength to strength, each year doing more and traveling further.

Those of you that have seen us will no doubt remember the crazy ginger Kerryman whipping the crowd up and generally dancing badly around the streets, waving his arms in the air and shouting till absolutely hoarse. Our hardest gig ever was on Monday 22nd January this year, when we played at his graveside but we knew he was there with us. We firmly believe that somewhere out there, Keith Moon has been kicked out of a band whose members include Kurt Cobain, Jimmy Hendrix & Phil Lynott to be replaced by the greatest rock drummer of all time, Ken Flavin. He will always be with us, at every gig we play. Ken Flavin, our seventh member for ever, RIP my friend.

Spraoi is over for another year, and it went pretty well for us, despite rain falling on the Sunday, stopping our last gig from going ahead. It's all change now, with Ken leaving to go onto more tropical climes in India, and Niall strolling down the aisle.

So what's next? Well, we're hoping to get into the studio to finally get some recording done, but we might have to wait till the soon-to-be married man comes back.

We have a team in the first Shakedown Cup on Saturday, for those in the area, head down to Villa Park in Ozier to cheer us on as we kick ass all round.

The next gig we have is looking like sometime in October, for the Imagine festival. So until then, keep it real people, we shall be back, bigger and better than ever before!
